What to put in the interests section of a CV

CV Majster knowledge base

Describing your interests on a CV is a chance to show your personality and stand out from other candidates with similar qualifications.

Avoid vague words such as books, film or sport. Be specific and describe exactly what you are passionate about.

Hobbies can show qualities that are useful at work, such as patience, determination or analytical thinking.

Key tips:

  • Instead of "sport", write "long-distance running" or "running marathons".
  • Write about interests related to your industry.
  • Be ready to talk about your hobbies in the interview.
  • Limit this section to no more than three specific passions.
