How to write a bricklayer CV

Professional summary

Say how many years you have been laying bricks, with what materials and on what kind of buildings. If you also do plastering, chimneys or clinker facades, list them, because these are skills that pay more.

Bricklayer with 6 years of experience in apartment building construction; I lay sand-lime and ceramic blocks quickly and evenly. I have a medical clearance for working at height and am ready to work away from home.

Experience: duties and achievements

Instead of "bricklaying work", say what you built, from what material and how much. Scale works well, for example the number of houses a year, as does saying whether you work alone or lead a crew.

Weaker: Bricklaying work.

Better: Building load-bearing and partition walls from ceramic blocks in about 15 houses a year.

Weaker: Building facades.

Better: Clinker brick facades and chimneys, with even pointing and attention to detail.

Weaker: Teamwork.

Better: Leading a crew of 4: dividing the work and checking plumb and level.

Bricklayer CV for beginners

If you are just starting out, describe placements at a construction school, work as a bricklayer's laborer and building work for your family. Say which materials you have already worked with.

Add that you are ready to learn and to work in different conditions. Many bricklayers start as laborers and quickly take on tasks on their own.

Tailoring your CV to the job offer

Residential construction looks for speed with sand-lime and ceramic blocks, renovation for precision with old brick, and companies building single-family houses for work from foundations to roof. Put the experience that matches the job ad at the top of your CV.
