How to write a veterinarian CV

Professional summary

Say which animals you work with, for how many years and which procedures you do on your own. Add the diagnostics you know and your on-call duty. These are the first things a clinic owner asks about.

Veterinary graduate, licensed to practise since 2025. I have placement experience in a 24-hour clinic and do vaccinations and basic examinations. I want to develop in feline medicine.

Experience: duties and achievements

For each workplace, give the number of patients, procedures and diagnostics. Separate procedures you do on your own from those you assist with. Add on-call duty and training others, if you do it.

Weaker: Treating animals.

Better: Internal medicine consultations for dogs and cats, on average 15 patients a day.

Weaker: Operations.

Better: Soft tissue surgery on my own: neutering, tumour removal, abdominal surgery.

Weaker: Tests.

Better: Abdominal ultrasound and interpreting X-rays.

Say which direction you want to develop in. Clinics are happy to hire graduates who know what they want to learn.

Tailoring your CV to the job offer

A 24-hour clinic looks for on-call duty and emergencies, a practice for preventive care and contact with owners, and a referral centre for a specific field. Move what the offer is about to the top.
