How to write an English teacher CV
Professional summary
Write how long you have taught, at which schools and classes, your career grade and which exams you prepare pupils for. Add your pupils' results if you know them, because they are the strongest proof of a teacher's effectiveness. At the end mention what makes you stand out outside lessons.
English philology graduate with a teaching specialism and C2 level. On my placements I taught lessons at a primary and a secondary school, and for two years I have taught children at a language school. I am looking for a post at a primary school.
Experience: duties and achievements
Describe classes, levels, exams and results. Add activities outside lessons: clubs, competitions, projects and exchanges, because head teachers look for teachers who bring something to school life. Being a form tutor is also worth listing, because it shows responsibility.
Weaker: Teaching English.
Better: English lessons in 6 classes at basic and extended level.
Weaker: Matura preparation.
Better: Preparing pupils for the extended level matura, average pupil score 78% in 2026.
Weaker: Extra activities.
Better: A club preparing for the Cambridge B2 First and C1 Advanced exams.
Skills worth listing
List levels, exams, methods and tools. In your soft skills show patience, the ability to motivate and how you work with a class in which every pupil has different needs.

Qualifications and career grade
List your degree and teaching qualification, your career grade, your language certificate and examiner rights. At a public school teaching qualifications are a condition of employment, so state them clearly.
English teacher CV with no experience
Describe school placements, private lessons, work at a language school or at language camps. Every form of teaching counts if you give the level and the number of pupils.
Add your language certificate and teaching specialism. Write which pupils you want to work with, because a primary school and a secondary school are different challenges.
Tailoring your CV to the job offer
A primary school looks for work with children and preparation for the year 8 exam, a secondary school for the extended matura and certificates, and a language school for flexibility and classes for adults. Move to the top what the job ad is about.
