Sewing machinist CV: example and template
This example is for sewing machinists at garment factories, clothing plants and plants making upholstery, curtains and workwear, and for dressmakers and people after a sewing course.
The employer wants to know which machines you sew on, which operations you do, which fabrics you know, what your output is and how you look after seam quality. We show you how to describe this on your CV.
How to write a sewing machinist CV

First job at a sewing plant
Without experience, describe a sewing course, sewing at home and alterations. Many plants train new people on site.
Add willingness to work shifts and to targets. It is a common requirement at garment plants.
Tailoring your CV to the job offer
A garment plant looks for knits and fast operations, a workwear plant for heavy materials and strong seams, and an upholstery plant for sewing covers and large pieces. Move to the top what the job ad is about. If you can change over a machine, replace a needle and set the thread tension, say so plainly. Also say whether you sew from a pattern and whether you know special machines, for example for buttonholes or buttons, because it increases your value on the line.
