How to write a data analyst CV

Professional summary

Give your industry, tools and the type of analysis you do. Add one business result, such as a decision, a saving or a better result. An analyst who shows an impact on decisions stands out from people who just list tools.

Junior data analyst with an econometrics degree and a Power BI course. I prepare reports in Excel and Power BI and write basic SQL queries. My portfolio includes an analysis of public labour market data.

Certificates and portfolio

Certificates in analytics tools help you pass the first screening. A portfolio is even better: 2 or 3 dashboards or analyses on public data, with a short description of the problem and the findings.

Data analyst CV with no experience

Describe projects from courses and university, analyses of public data and any job in which you prepared reports in Excel. Add a link to your portfolio.

When changing careers, show knowledge from your previous industry. An analyst who knows sales or logistics from the inside has an advantage.

Tailoring your CV to the job offer

A retailer looks for sales and pricing analysis, a bank for work with large databases and accuracy, and a tech company for Python and experiments. Order your tools as in the job ad to get through the ATS.
